aka, “the promise.” (working title).

denzo are bonnie’s fairy godmothers (and the rest of the bennett line’s) due to damon’s promise to emily. kol’s there too, at some point. it’s basically the step sister of the eternal teenager verse. just with more witchy shenanigans & denzo getting themselves into trouble in the name of helping bonnie learn magic. damon gets turned into a cat at one point, and is one for over a week. it only takes a day to figure out the counterspell, he just likes being a cat. only turns back on accident, mopes about it for a while.

seriously this au is underdeveloped as fuck why would you guys choose this option.

there’s two diverging storylines because i have never made a decision in my life. one is where denzo escape augustine together, the other is where they don’t. the second one is more angsty but the first is really fun.

storyline 1 general outline:

denzo escape together, damon’s like “hey i’m supposed to be babysitting these witchies but i sort of neglected them the last five years. sure hope they haven’t gotten themselves into any trouble.” cue teenage sheila in the background running amok and using her magic to trip people over. enzo instantly takes a liking to her & joins in. damon and amelia are severely unimpressed. amelia is a witch doctor / therapist & helps denzo readjust to life, sheila is a menace and should not be left unsupervised lest she overthrow the government and give the president an aneurysm.

damon’s like “oh you were such a sweet child. so polite and shy. the loveliest ten year old.” and now sheila’s the loveliest sixteen year old and she’s angry at the world.

anyways, haven’t decided on what happens with the abby situation — maybe she spells denzo inside the house while she goes to confront mikael?? no way they’re letting her go alone, and no way she’s letting them come with (the bennetts keep getting more stubborn by the generation).

little baby bonnie is the cutest cutie to exist. she loves being carried around at vamp speed & thrown up in the air. she has a habit of accidentally turning people into frogs - turns enzo into one & goes to find some more frogs. lines them up in a little row and makes damon guess which one is enzo. he guesses it first try (one of them looks far more smug than the others.) and has to kiss frog!enzo to turn him back. bonnie thinks she’s hilarious & runs off to tell grams about her new spell. she has a sparkly purple diary grimoire (with a voice activated passcode) and writes in it with her smiggle gel pens.

when bonnie’s ten, someone’s picking on her at school, so she tells denzo. it goes a little something like this:

denzo: right let’s go beat up a ten year old.

bonnie: NO! you can’t do that!

denzo: fine. we’ll compel them to stop?

bonnie: no. that’s not fair.

denzo: what if we compelled them to embarrass themselves, completely unrelated to your predicament?

bonnie: …perhaps…

also also also! grams won’t let denzo into her house. mostly for the lols. it’s become a running joke by this point. they have dinner on her patio once a month, but aren’t invited in because they’d get into everything and touch the wrong spelled object and blow the house up. she has a ward up to keep pests out, claims that’s why they can’t get in.

i haven’t figured out canon yet, but it’ll probs be similar to etv (just with bonnie also knowing denzo. she finds them hilarious, stefan disagrees.)

storyline 2 general outline:

damon escapes alone, next few decades occur a la canon. sheila hates damon because he wasn’t there to save abby. damon… doesn’t care.

damon goes out of his way to get the tomb opened only to discover that katherine isn't there, becomes disillusioned with her, and by extension, elena. his humanity comes back around this time, decides he might as well keep his promise to emily, even if she didn’t keep her end. mostly because he needs something to live for & it’ll annoy stefan.

damon and stefan still butt heads, causing elena (and stefan, and isobel, and pretty much everyone because elena makes a Big Deal about it) to think he's romantically interested in her, when in reality damon is just looking out for stefan and bonnie in his own way (the typical, hardcore damon way). bonnie starts to withdraw from her friends, damon swoops in (literally. he keeps his powers) to save the day / piss off his brother even more. she doesn’t trust him & makes that very clear, but eventually they come to some sort of mutual ground. damon probably shares stories about emily, brings bonnie spells that he thinks would be fun. there are… a Lot of spells. he probably writes down some harry potter ones to see if they’d work. bonnie just raises an eyebrow at him. they start to form a bestiehood. cue stefan and elena’s meddling.

bonnie goes on a college tour of whitmore?? something seems off, so she tells damon. who in turn scopes the college out to just… check what’s going on. finds enzo. brain stops functioning, somehow he gets enzo out & back to the boarding house. calls bonnie in the middle of the night and actually BEGS for her help. she and damon get enzo back up and at ‘em, denzo cautiously reform their friendship & eventual romance. they probably hook up multiple times by accident before they’re actually on good terms. more stefan and elena (and caroline) meddling.

instead of college, because the whitmore thing really freaked her out, denzo take her on a trip to NOLA. klaus is there, frenemies with damon & begrudgingly on decent terms with enzo (nobody knows how that happened). bonnie and rebekah end up together, she also becomes good friends with davina. kol is having a wonderful time, reunited with his old pals (iykyk) and tormenting his siblings. elijah sighs more often than usual. freya misses her coffin. finn misses his. but sage shows up and she and freya are BFFS (finn is not displeased with this, but he does wish they would refrain from teasing him). marcel keeps trying to ban damon from the quarter (again), but it doesn’t stick. idk.

elena dies, either in some ritual or because she stuck her nose into someplace she shouldn’t have. stefan shows up in new orleans, rebefriends klaus, bonds with damon. stefan/hayley/klaus love triangle??? it’s not quite clear.

and yeah. that’s what it is so far.

new idea for an hk au where wyrm = dragon (but their true forms arent gigantic like wyrms theyre just a bit bigger than the tallest bugs unless youre thk who is in fact a tad too large) but everyone else is still bugs:

PK fully expected the vessels, as his offspring despite the void corrupting their bodies and erasing their minds, to inherit the shape of his old/true form and not the buglike one he changed into to appear more like his citizens. so in preperation he had a special binding spell for the vessel thay makes it up to the top first, one that forces thk to take a more bug like appearence snd keeps them out of their natural form (aka the spell makes them look like a canon vessel instead of smol dragon)

it barely remembers that day aside from letting its sibling fall down, so much later, post ETV, when the seals of the temple release, it is very startled by what happens. the temple is meant to remove any and all spells present within if the radiance is gone. and it was not specified what spells in particular. just ALL of them. so not only is thk very injured and tired and confused over wtf is going on, theyre also suddenly a dragon when they were never one before

hornet is still cool and a half dragon half spider creature, and she knows via imagination roughly what her fathers true form would have been, so it is. very odd for full on wyrm in its natural state to waltz out of the temple the hollow knight was chained in...wearing its cloak with the same mask shape...and she was pretty sure her entire childhood that her father told her that her not-sibling, the pure vessel, was not at all draconic like her

of course little ghost (who is obviously a very adorable smol dragon) seemed to prove the theory that all vessels were not at all wyrms false, but she had grown up close to thk, and there was surely no way that it could have been hidden through sheer will (supposedly lacking one or not) alone

- I'd like to think Hornet can finally find peace as Hallownest's Protector after the events of the game (specifically the DNM and ETV endings). I know we still have the events of Silksong carting her away afterwards, but I'd like to think that for a time she finally gets the chance to just...exist. Exist without constantly fighting to survive, and though she would undoubtedly continue to do so for a time out of habit - unused to the prospect of peace and comfortably familiar with routine - I would hope she eventually finds some release from her duties. Be it with reconnecting with her last living kin (Hollow) or finding new purpose elsewhere beyond Hallownest

Eurovision 2002 - Wrap Up

That's it for Eurovision 2002 - a smaller year. Despite the shrinking thanks to the smaller budgets available to ETV and the Estonian Government, the production and contest overall exceeded what might have been expected. There are several small changes that resulted in interesting improvements and unearthing a shadier side of the competitions.

Let's start with the songs. 2002 has a reputation problem. For many its seen as one of the worst Eurovision's ever. The winner one of the least loved, many attributing Latvia's win to a gimmick or to block voting (thanks Lithuania!) There are only three songs from 2002 in the songfestival.be 2023 top 500 - the lowest modern ebb. There are some iconic disasters on the small stage and much that is just not memorable. However not only are there gems hidden there, but the national finals as a whole are strong. I was worried going into this that after the trials of 2001 and with 2002's reputation, this would be an ordeal. It wasn't - it felt like the continuation of 2000s national final success resuming after a blip. Lots of variety with some progress from unexpected countries such as Malta. Behind the scenes, Eurovision is getting stronger - even if that's not apparent on the stage on the night.

The EBU, as is their wont, had another couple of voting experiments. One of those, the reverse recap, appeared to have instant positive effects in addressing the running order bias. The other was less successful and resulted in accusations (possibly highly accurate accusations) of vote swapping and rigging. Juries were in the dock when they could so easily be manipulated by those with the desire to. The televote at this stage looked like the answer. Forget diaspora voting, stopping bent juries fixing things was far more important.

There was more than a couple of trophies to hand out this year for the first time, with the institution of the Marcel Bezençon awards organised by Sweden's head of delegation, Christer Björkman. Mirroring the Festival of Sanremo's additional prizes, there was a new artistic award (won by Sweden...), a new press award (won by France) and a fan award organised by OGAE, which went to often overlooked Finnish entry Laura Voutilainen.

Back to the actual production, and although ETV made the very best of not much money, there were some issues, notably with the organisation of the evening. Every show has chaos going on behind the scenes, however it's rarely visible to the viewing public in the way it was in 2002. The postcards and the interval acts were both a little disappointing and certainly aren't among the ones that are remembered.

The hosting was an improvement on the previous year even though there were some cringe moments and awkwardness, those were eclipsed by the delightful mid-show song break. Yes, is was mega-cheesy yet it just worked in a way these things so often don't. It pushed the faux romance between hosts to a self-parodying extreme and it still came off as sweet. Well done.

One thing that's still present is relegation. At least this year, the country (Malta) putting lots of money and effort into their national final didn't get relegated as punishment for trying. Finland however weren't so lucky. Their promotion of Laura was extensive, but it didn't pay off and Finland had turned into one of the yo-yo nations of Eurovision. Would they ever be the same competition as Poland or Portugal again?

So, it's possible to host Eurovision on a budget, the running order problem can be fixed, but the EBU still have work to do on this televoting thing and relegation is a bugbear that needs to be resolved. What will 2003 bring?

I love me some tasty angst, I love all the variants of what can the "wrong time" entail - is it an outside factor, or is it an inside state of one of the characters? Doesn't really matter to me whether the trope stays a tragedy with a bad ending, or if they meet again after and manage to claw their happy ending out. Bonus points for the latter, tbh, but sometimes... it just isn't meant to be, y'know? Honourable mention for soulmates. Any variation of soulmates is likely to get me. Also I love to read genuinely healthy and cute relationships, it's a thing I crave from time to time. They're just happy and cute, look at them go! (looks at my new notebook longingly)

MEAN AU TIME EtV ending AU. The basic gist of it is "very dysfunctional siblings try to somehow live in this new world". Hornet's shocked but happy to see Hollow survive - they avoid her and are aggressive/unwilling to communicate in any way. Ghost has killed Radi - Hollow hates them for that, for taking that away from them. Hornet tried to kill Ghost and killed who knows how many other vessels - Ghost absolutely despises her for that. She sees them as a threat in return. It's all hanging on by a thread, everyone has so much things to work through. One huge mess.

YouTube star Shanmukh Jaswanth's debut feature film launched

YouTube star Shanmukh Jaswanth has worked his way up. The news is that he is now debuting in cinema. Producer Bekkem Venugopal of Lucky Media has launched his feature-film debut.

The muhurtham event was attended by Dil Raju as the chief guest. Also present were Vishwak Sen and others.

The untitled film is directed by debutant Vissa Bhimashankar. Also produced by Anil Kumar Ravada and Bhargav Manne, the film will go on the floors sometime in November. The plan is to release the movie in theatres in May 2025.

Claim to fame: 'Surya' and 'Software DevLOVEper' are Shanmukh's claim to fame. The two YouTube web series became successful. For long, he has wanted to become an actor. Soon, he will be seen in the ETV Win original, 'Leela Vinodham'.

Sorry for the lack of art recently but work has me rather down. I want to ramble about my life so I hope you all dont mind :> For all that dont know I am enlisted in the US Navy specifically under the submarine field. Even more specifically my job (Rate) is a electronics technician navigation (ETV). I work on a SSBN that im not gonna specify for privacy reasons. Ive been underway on a few patrols so im still rather green but not brand new. I am qualified in submarines for those in the crowd who know what that means. My job has me dealing with electronics (duh) and operating Navigation systems so I can guide and make recommendations to the officers I report to. For me the Navy has pretty much been college with the amount of hours I spend to study. Ironic I went into the Navy to avoid going to college but alas here I am. I am still happy with all that I have achieved though, keeps me going forward. If any of you guys want to ask any questions about what I do with submarines or my rate feel free to ask.
